What is casting?
Casting lets you send a video from your phone, tablet, or computer to your television so you can watch it on the big screen. Essentially, you’re streaming the video signal from one device to another.
Casting with Apple AirPlay
If you have an Apple TV device (or a smart TV with Apple TV built in), you can use AirPlay to cast videos.
From a Mac Computer
- Make sure your Apple TV is a second-generation (2010 or newer) model.
- Connect your Mac and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Safari and visit knowledge.ca.
- Choose a program, then click the AirPlay icon in the bottom-right corner of the video player.
- Select your Apple TV from the list.
Your video will play on your TV screen.
From an iPhone or iPad
- 1. Ensure your device is running iOS 10.3 or later.
- 2. Download and open the Knowledge Network app.
- Sign in and select a program to watch.
- Tap the AirPlay icon at the top-right corner of the player.
- Choose your Apple TV from the list.
If using our iOS app: Please update to the latest version of the app and you will see the Airplay icon appear on all videos. Tap the icon to cast video to your Apple TV.

It’s not working:
Make sure that you have the latest software on your iOS device and Apple TV
I can see video, but the audio won’t play:
Make sure that the volume is up (not muted) on both your iOS device, and your television
On your iPhone or iPad check the ring/silent switch. If it’s set to silent, you’ll see an orange line. Toggle the switch to turn on the sound.
My connection keeps getting interrupted or lags: You may have a weak Wi-Fi signal or interference (click here to test your internet speed). To see Apple’s recommended router settings, click here. To learn about potential causes of signal interference, click here. Your AirPlay connection may also get interrupted when you lock your device, put it to sleep, or switch to a different app.
